A Brighter Future

Farmers, ranchers and rural entrepreneurs in Colorado are leading the way to a brighter future based on developing renewable energy. By harnessing the power of the wind, the sun, running water, the heat of the earth and their own crops, they are demonstrating how to spark rural prosperity and promote greater energy independence.

The Colorado Harvesting Energy Network supports the grassroots rural leaders whose renewable energy projects and plans will create sustainable development that benefits the nation. We work in partnership with Gov. Bill Ritter’s administration in seeking to promote a New Energy Economy and target our efforts to increasing the opportunities for rural communities and landowners to benefit .

Much as the rural electrification movement linked isolated and dispersed communities with power, our network seeks to provide 21 st century connections through communication, market development and public policy development to help make renewable energy the next big crop for our state.

We are organizing at the state and regional level as affiliates of the national 25 x ’25 movement to carry out the vision that “Agriculture will provide 25 percent of the total energy consumed in the United States by 2025 while continuing to produce abundant, safe and affordable food and fiber.’’
